During the initial development years of Stroh Ranch Kirby Smith provided land planning and landscape architectural services for various preliminary and final plats and development plans for this 2000 acre PD. As part of the Apex Park & Recreation  District’s efforts to redevelop  this 18 acre park, Kirby Smith & Associates, Inc. was retained to prepare a Park Site Master Plan.  Responsibilities for this assignment include three major phases: Inventory and site analysis; Programming & preliminary site master plan concepts; Final site master plan preparation.  A primary component of the preliminary planning concepts includes new playground            and sprayground areas (proposed here as a coordinated set of beach themed amenities). Additionally this design includes abundant, accessible open space internal pocket parks and open space connections that will include a playground, and picnic areas along the various internal trail links. KSA, Inc also prepared the PUD Development Plan which included standards for single family residential architecture, landscaping, fencing, and project identification signage to enhance the Town’s Community Design Principles. This has included preparation of a major reconfiguration of the upper playground, along with new perimeter retaining walls and landscaping for this playground; Minor restoration plans for the lower playground; Master planning for future grounds improvements and fundraising; and Planting plan preparation for misc. minor planting projects installed by church volunteers.           Responsibilities have included preparation of concepts through construction drawings, bid                  documents, and  illustrative renderings, and coordination with church and school staff, City,                    contractors & volunteers.  Playground master plan improvements completed in spring 2009. As part of one of the Founders Village Metropolitan District’s infrastructure improvements, Kirby Smith & Associates, Inc. prepared preliminary design and final construction drawings for the Mikelson Blvd. corridor.  This arterial street right-of-way and trail corridor landscaping was for phased improvements required of the District abutting new residential neighborhoods, and was designed to comply with the Town’s stringent       Water Use Management Plan.  KSA, Inc. also prepared bid documents and administered the                       District’s competitive bid process. Construction plans were prepared and coordinated with the City staff prior to approval and construction.
